I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There was so much story to this novella that it didn't seem as short as some of the others. I loved the author's spin on this planet's Day of the Dead story. It makes it much more of a celebration than the creepy tales of our own take on this day. The characters are very well developed and I even felt I got to know some of the supporting characters as well. For such a short story this one was very well done. It felt complete at the end and not hurried as some are. This is one of many of this author's short novellas so if you are just coming in on this particular one you may feel a bit lost as to what is going on with the Citadels but as far as the story involving the characters, you can jump right in. Syrella and Dorium are strong characters and it comes across in the story as such. Syrella knows exactly who and what she is and what she wants and not afraid to go for it and Dorium is strong in his own way and keeps her very well grounded. In other words they make a great pair. I liked the choice of her personal guards too, especially Perinio and his special tattoos. Although short this is a good read for any who like a little fantasy with their sci fi.Product details

This story is just like all of Viola Grace's novellas. It is short but packs a punch. To all the reviewers out there, if you start reading a saga on book 11, don't be surprised when it doesn't meet your expectations. To all of her loyal fans, this is another entry into a very interesting saga. Can't wait for the next one.
This is not a book, it is an incredibly short story that is so short it should not even be .99. This short story has incredibly huge plot holes, silly characters and oddly enough, no actual story. Things just happen with no motivation or real explanation.
The free sample is the best and most thought out part of this book.
After having purchased as many books from as I have, I should have known better then to purchase this 'book'.
ALWAYS REMEMBER! If the author and or publisher DOES NOT tell you how many pages or words there are in a book, DO NOT BUY IT!
I love all of all of Viola's stories, I would like to see them be a little longer only because I am a fast reader and my enjoyment is over to quickly. Her saving grace is that she is a prolific writer so that helps make up some. Anyway, this book kept you on your toes wondering what was going to happen next with both the good and the bad.
I sympathize with the main character and all she had to deal with. Some family members are a real pain to deal with, but she was as good as this book reads!
Called to Power (Tales of the Citadel), is a continuation of a mini space opera the author puts out in the format of a series of short stories. This particular story I very much enjoyed. Syrella is hidden royalty and when things go south, she is called upon to step up to the plate in her family's place. The Citadel decides that things were very South for her family and assigns a guard to keep her safe. A guard she's always felt more for than just passing acquaintance type feelings. They make a fabulous team and within the parameters of a short story, you feel her anguish over all of the new changes and past that haunts her.
That all being said, I do feel that the stories keep getting shorter and shorter and the price keeps staying the same or raising. I am hooked on this particular author, but wish she would go back to her 90-120 page length stories. They "felt" better and I didn't mind paying 4 dollars for something that size, of this author's fantastic quality.
